QUALIFI Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools
Course Overview
The aim of this qualification is to equip learners with a comprehensive understanding of the knowledge and skills required for working directly with children and young people in school settings. It encompasses various areas of specialized support, such as planning, delivering and reviewing assessment strategies to support learning alongside the teacher, providing support for bilingual and special needs students, and fostering personal development and reflective practice.
This qualification is intended for individuals in roles that involve offering specialized support for students' learning in primary, secondary, or special schools.

- Delivering learning activities in collaboration with a teacher. Supporting gifted learners.
- Supporting children’s communication.
- Personal development in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings.
- Principles of safeguarding the well- being of children and young people.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand the principles underpinning the development of positive relationships with children, young people and adults.
- Be able to support learning activities.
- Understand the role and features of assessment for learning.
- Understand the main legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures for safeguarding children and young people.
- Be able to reflect on their own practice.
- Be able to plan and prepare learning activities under the supervision of a teacher.
Entry requirements
For entry onto this qualification, learners must possess:
- A UK level 2 qualification or an equivalent or
- A minimum of 3 years’ work experience which demonstrates current and relevant industry knowledge.
Delivery:
The qualification is delivered via instructor-led online presentations.
Assessment and verification
All units within this qualification are internally assessed by assessors and verifiers at the Caribbean Polytechnic Institute and externally verified by QUALIFI. The qualifications are criterion referenced, based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes.
To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria. Judgement that the learners have successfully fulfilled the assessment criteria is made by the Assessor.
Progression
After successfull completion you can progress to the Qualifi Level 4 Diploma in Early Learning and Childcare or the level 4 Diploma in Education and Training.
